Ask for waxing at most salons in Ahmedabad and you will be offered two choices: classic wax or Rica. Both remove hair from the root, so skin stays smooth for three to four weeks. The difference is in what the wax is made of, how it feels, and how your skin reacts afterwards.

What is Rica wax?

Rica is an Italian brand of liposoluble wax, made with plant oils and resins. Because it is applied at a lower temperature and is designed to hold the hair rather than the skin, it tends to pull less and leave less redness. That makes it a favourite for the face, underarms and bikini line, and for anyone whose skin reacts easily.

And classic wax?

Classic wax is the traditional warm wax most of us grew up with. It is effective, quick, and kinder on the wallet — a sensible choice for arms and legs, and for regular upkeep if your skin is not particularly sensitive.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Rica for the face, underarms and bikini, for sensitive or reactive skin, or if classic wax has left you red or bumpy before.
  • Choose classic for arms, legs and back when you wax regularly and your skin is happy with it.
  • Mix and match: many guests have Rica on the face and underarms and classic on the legs in the same visit.

At Drashti you can switch between classic and Rica for every area on our waxing page and see both prices side by side.

How to get the smoothest result

  1. 01

    Let it grow

Wait until hair is about 4 mm long — two to three weeks after shaving — so the wax can grip it.

  2. 02

Skip the scrub on the day

Exfoliate gently a day or two before, not on the day, and come with clean, dry skin.

  3. 03

    Tell us about your skin

Retinoid creams, recent peels or sunburn make skin fragile. Let us know and we will adjust.

  4. 04

    Be kind afterwards

For 24 hours, skip hot showers, steam, swimming, the gym and strong sun. Moisturise, and start gentle exfoliation from day three to prevent ingrown hairs.

At Drashti you can choose classic or Rica wax for each area, and we are happy to suggest which suits your skin when you visit.

Questions,
answered.

Most people find it more comfortable, because Rica is applied cooler and grips the hair rather than the skin. How it feels still depends on the area and how often you wax.

Usually three to four weeks, because hair is removed from the root. Regular waxing tends to make regrowth finer over time.

Yes — Rica is usually the better choice for sensitive skin. Tell your beautician about any reactions you have had before.
